Trumpf Wins Refund Of Surgical Lamp Duties

Law360, New York (January 20, 2011, 1:22 PM EST) -- A federal judge has ordered U.S. Customs and Border Protection to pay back medical device maker Trumpf Medical Systems Inc. money it wrongly collected as duties on surgical lamps, ending a three-year legal fight.

Judge Donald C. Pogue of the U.S. Court of the International Trade granted summary judgment to Trumpf in an order issued Tuesday, closing the case. The decision comes after months of negotiation between Trumpf and Customs on how an earlier win for Trumpf should be implemented.
