DOJ Continues Inquiry Of $7.6B Caterpillar Deal

Law360, New York (January 20, 2011, 2:56 PM EST) -- Bucyrus International Inc. and Caterpillar Inc. each received second requests Thursday from the U.S. Department of Justice in an antitrust review of Caterpillar's proposed $7.6 billion acquisition of the mining equipment manufacturer.

The merger, if completed, would vastly expand Caterpillar's reach in the global mining industry, and would leave Joy Global Inc. as the last stand-alone U.S.-based mining equipment manufacturer.
