EBay Sued For Anti-Competitive Conduct

Law360, New York (April 05, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- Online auctioneer eBay Inc. is facing a proposed class action lawsuit for allegedly using illegal tying schemes to charge sellers excessive fees.

In a complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, lead plaintiff Michael Malone alleges that eBay used illegal tie-in and steering practices to hit sellers with “needless and supracompetitve fees.”

“Sellers are forced to accept eBay’s payment process as a condition of being able to use the eBay auction process,” the complaint said.
