Law360, New York (January 25, 2011, 3:44 PM ET) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has rejected challenges to its new sulfur dioxide regulations from the oil and chemical industries and several U.S. states, saying the objections do not merit reconsideration of the new air pollution rules.
None of the objections to the new standards — which took effect in August — raised by the American Petroleum Institute and the American Chemistry Council challenged the EPA's scientific conclusions about sulfur dioxide, the agency said in a Federal Register document filed on Tuesday.
