Lieberman Tries Again To Protect ANWR From Drilling

Law360, New York (January 26, 2011, 3:43 PM EST) -- Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., is trying one last time to protect the coastal plains region of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from oil and gas exploration, a move that has drawn an immediate rebuke from Alaskan lawmakers.

Lieberman, who has said he will not run for re-election in 2012, introduced a bill Tuesday that would designate 1.5 million acres of the refuge as wilderness, meaning human activities would be restricted there to such things as nonmotorized recreation and scientific research.
