Mayer Brown Managing Partner Escapes Race Bias Case

Law360, New York (January 26, 2011, 7:51 PM EST) -- A federal judge has cleared the managing partner of Mayer Brown LLP’s Charlotte, N.C., office of allegations brought by a former associate that the firm harassed and fired her because she is black.

Judge Martin Reidinger of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina on Wednesday dismissed managing partner Jonathan A. Barrett as a defendant in the consolidated case, saying plaintiff Venus Y. Springs had only asserted her wrongful termination and racial harassment claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act....
