Veterans Seek Instant Benefits In PTSD Action

Law360, New York (January 31, 2011, 2:43 PM EST) -- Iraq and Afghanistan veterans settled their employment class action suit against U.S. military on Thursday after the government agreed to provide lifetime benefits for soldiers discharged for post-traumatic stress disorder.

Over a thousand veterans medically discharged between 2003 and 2008 for PTSD will now be eligible to receive lifetime disability retirement benefits and the military agreed to increase the PTSC disability rating for other class members, according to a joint motion for preliminary approval filed in the Court of Federal Claims.
