Bayer Sues Teva Over Patents For Avelox

Law360, New York (April 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Bayer HealthCare AG has filed suit against Teva Pharmaceuticals USA Inc., citing infringement of two patents for its blockbuster antibiotic Avelox.

The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware on Thursday, came in response to an Abbreviated New Drug Application filed by Teva with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration last month. Teva sought approval from the FDA of a generic version of Avelox, a drug used to treat bacterial infections like bronchitis and pneumonia.
