SEC Adds Civil Charges To Expert Networking Probe

Law360, New York (February 3, 2011, 8:21 PM EST) -- Six individuals already facing criminal charges for their alleged involvement in an insider trading scheme at an expert networking firm have been hit with a civil complaint as well, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced Thursday.

Two employees of Mountain View, Calif.-based Primary Global Research LLC — along with four technology company employees who acted as consultants for the firm — allegedly passed on confidential information to hedge funds and other investors that parlayed the tips into almost $6 million in trading gains, according to...
