UK To Probe Clear Channel, JCDecaux Ad Contracts

Law360, New York (February 3, 2011, 7:05 PM EST) -- The U.K.'s economic regulator said Thursday it was launching an investigation into whether outdoor advertising contracts between Clear Channel Communications Inc., JCDecaux and local authorities were anti-competitive.

The Office of Fair Trading said it was concerned that the contracts between the parties, which in some cases can exceed 20 years, create a significant barrier of entry for smaller media companies interested in the outdoor advertising market.
