CWM On Hook For $3.2M In Ohio Landfill Cleanup

Law360, New York (February 3, 2011, 6:39 PM EST) -- A federal judge has ordered Chemical Waste Management Inc. to shell out $3.2 million for its share of liability for cleanup costs in connection with a long-running dispute over the release of hazardous substances at an Ohio landfill.

Judge Walter H. Rice of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio issued the judgment Thursday in favor of plaintiff Responsible Environmental Solutions Alliance after finding that CWM was 49.5 percent responsible for all “reasonable and necessary” response costs incurred since February 2009.
