Ex-WilmerHale Partner Named SEC General Counsel

Law360, New York (February 4, 2011, 5:19 PM EST) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has promoted former WilmerHale partner Mark D. Cahn to the role of general counsel, the agency said Friday.

Cahn, 49, will replace former Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP partner David M. Becker, who had previously announced he planned to leave the agency at the end of February to return to the private sector.

Becker played a role in shaping most of the agency's major policy and regulatory initiatives and counseled the commission on virtually every matter that came before...
