Chevron Wins TRO On $113B Ecuadorean Judgment

Law360, New York (February 8, 2011, 7:49 PM EST) -- Chevron Corp. won a ruling Tuesday barring Ecuadorean plaintiffs from seeking to enforce an anticipated judgment of as much as $113 billion against the company in courts around the world over alleged massive pollution in the Amazon rainforest.

Judge Lewis A. Kaplan issued a temporary restraining order in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York pertaining to a longstanding, bitter dispute over contamination allegedly caused decades ago by Texaco Inc., which is now owned by Chevron.
