W.Va. Residents Sue To Stop Bayer Plant Reopening

Law360, New York (February 9, 2011, 2:31 PM EST) -- A group of West Virginia residents have sued Bayer CropScience LP to bar it from reopening a chemical plant that produces deadly methyl isocyanate until they can prove the plant will operate safely.

Last time Bayer restarted its MIC facility at Institute, W. Va., an explosion killed two workers and potentially allowed deadly gas to vent into the atmosphere, plaintiffs said in a suit filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Virginia.
