Judge Lifts Stay As EchoStar Trims DVR Patent Claims

Law360, New York (February 9, 2011, 6:34 PM EST) -- A magistrate judge has lifted a long-running stay in EchoStar Technologies Corp.’s patent infringement suit against TiVo Inc. and Humax USA Inc. over digital video recorder technology as the plaintiff agreed to narrow its case.

Magistrate Judge Caroline Craven of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Tuesday granted EchoStar’s bid to end the stay that has been in place for more than four years pending the re-examination of the plaintiff’s three patents-in-suit.
