Resort To Pay $101M To Injured Workers

Law360, New York (April 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In what is being touted as the largest construction accident settlement in U.S. history, a group of plaintiffs has won $101 million over the collapse of a parking garage at the Tropicana Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J., which killed four workers and injured about 30 others.

The settlement, which includes $82.5 million in cash, $8.3 million in future medical expenses, $8.2 million in workers compensation payments and $2 million in previously settled cases, was reached Wednesday night and will now be divided among 38 plaintiffs,...
