NTP Tries To Save Wireless E-Mail Patents On Appeal

Law360, New York (February 10, 2011, 7:36 PM EST) -- Patent-holding company NTP Inc. made its case to the Federal Circuit on Thursday that the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences should not have rejected five of its patents relating to wireless e-mail technology.

The patents, which previously netted NTP a $612.5 million settlement with Blackberry maker Research in Motion Ltd., suffered from misinterpretation at the hands of the board and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, NTP attorney Brian Buroker told a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit....
