Verizon Workers Urge High Court To Take ERISA Suit

Law360, New York (February 10, 2011, 6:08 PM EST) -- A class of Verizon LLC employees has bolstered its effort to have the U.S. Supreme Court rule on whether the company should be on the hook for a $1 billion transcription error in a retirement plan.

Verizon’s motion to deny the Employee Retirement Income Security Act class’s certiorari petition failed to adequately address a major circuit split over how much responsibility companies have to correct such “scrivener’s errors,” the plaintiffs’ attorneys said in a reply motion filed Wednesday at the U.S. Supreme Court.
