Texas Bill Would Mandate E-Verify For All Employers

Law360, New York (February 11, 2011, 1:14 PM EST) -- A Texas state representative has introduced a bill that would require all employers to use E-Verify to check employees' work eligibility, on the heels of four other bills demanding broader use of the employment eligibility database in the state.

Rep. Doug Miller, a Republican from the San Antonio area, on Thursday introduced H.B. No. 1272, which would make it illegal for employers not to use E-Verify and hit those employers with criminal penalties.
