US Takes China Steel, Payment Card Disputes To WTO

Law360, New York (February 11, 2011, 5:14 PM EST) -- The U.S. said Friday that it had asked the World Trade Organization to resolve two disputes with China over its imposition of duties on American steel imports and its alleged discriminatory treatment of American payment card companies.

The U.S. asked the WTO to establish dispute settlement panels to adjudicate the two cases, U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said. The U.S. held WTO consultations with China on the two matters in September, but the parties could not reach an agreement, Kirk said.
