Foreign Physiotherapists Can Take Exams In Ga.: Judge

Law360, New York (February 14, 2011, 4:11 PM EST) -- A Georgia judge has invalidated a state board ban prohibiting physical therapy applicants trained in Egypt, India, Pakistan and the Philippines from taking the national physical therapy licensing examination in Georgia.

Judge Henry M. Newkirk of Fulton County Superior Court, Atlanta Judicial Circuit on Wednesday granted declaratory judgment for three foreign-educated physical therapy candidates challenging the “unlawful and discriminatory” prohibition that was enacted by the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy and instituted by The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy Inc.
