Outstanding Women: Sharon Barner

Law360, New York (April 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- With a background in science and a zeal for the courtroom, Sharon Barner found her calling in intellectual property litigation.

After helping establish Foley & Lardner’s IP group in Chicago, and eventually becoming head of the firm’s IP litigation group in 2002, Barner was named chair of the intellectual property department last year.

Barner, who earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration in biology, discovered IP litigation after working for about two and a half years as a mergers and acquisitions attorney.
