Ky. House Passes Whistleblower Bill

Law360, New York (February 15, 2011, 6:41 PM EST) -- The Kentucky House of Representatives has unanimously approved legislation that would allow whistleblowers to collect up to 30 percent of damages if they bring a successful suit over fraud involving state dollars.

In a 98-0 vote Monday, the Kentucky House passed House Bill 4 — otherwise known as the Kentucky False Claims Act — providing financial incentives and other guidelines for private citizens to bring legal action against state contractors who commit fraud.

The bill now proceeds to the Kentucky Senate for deliberation.
