Judge Greenlights Culling Of Yellowstone Bison

Law360, New York (February 15, 2011, 5:44 PM EST) -- A federal judge has ruled that the U.S. government can resume killing bison to control the population in and around Yellowstone National Park, dealing a blow to a coalition of environmental groups, hunters and Indian tribes that sued to halt the practice.

Judge Charles C. Lovell of the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana on Monday found that the groups had failed to prove that federal and state agencies managing the Yellowstone bison herd acted in violation of environmental protection laws.
