New Calif. Gov. Scraps Minimum Wage Suit

Law360, New York (February 16, 2011, 7:30 PM EST) -- California Gov. Jerry Brown has dropped a lawsuit initiated by his predecessor that sought the authority to pay state workers the federal minimum wage while the state was facing a massive budget crisis.

In a stipulation of dismissal filed Tuesday in the Superior Court of California, the executive branch said that discovery in the case, including an expert study commissioned for the plaintiffs by the Department of Personnel Administration, showed that the legacy payroll system in place in 2010 could not comply with former Gov.
