Army Corps Error Led To $4M Pipeline Break: Contango

Law360, New York (February 16, 2011, 5:18 PM EST) -- Energy company Contango Operators Inc. wants the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to help pay more than $4 million for damage caused to one of its pipelines when a dredging contractor for the Corps ruptured it.

Contango, along with its insurers, filed suit Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, saying the Corps should be held responsible because it provided the contractor, Weeks Marine Inc., with outdated navigational charts that did not include Contango's pipeline.
