Fla. High Court Seeks 80 New Trial Court Judges

Law360, New York (February 23, 2011, 4:18 PM EST) -- Florida's highest court last week called for 80 new state trial judges, even though Gov. Rick Scott's proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year does not allocate any money for the new positions and cuts overall funding for the state court system.

The Supreme Court of Florida issued an order Feb. 17 certifying the request for the new judges. The high court requested 54 for county courts, which hear civil disputes of less than $15,000, and 26 for circuit courts, which hear disputes greater than $15,000....
