Pfizer Ends Suits Over Nigerian Trovan Deaths

Law360, New York (February 22, 2011, 9:24 PM ET) -- Pfizer Inc. announced Tuesday that it has settled the last two lawsuits stemming from the 1996 Nigerian clinical trials of its antibiotic Trovan, which allegedly claimed the lives of 11 children and caused brain damage and paralysis in others.

The settlements resolve the complaints of two groups of Nigerian families lodged in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Specific terms of the settlement were confidential.
