Pentagon Nixes Small Biz Competitiveness Program

Law360, New York (February 22, 2011, 6:58 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Defense has ended the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program, a regime testing the effectiveness of eliminating small business set-asides in certain industries.

The program will be eliminated via a new rule amending the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement, the DOD said in a Federal Register notice of final rulemaking published Tuesday.

The repeal of the program became effective immediately upon the enactment of the rule, the DOD said. It will apply to the first full fiscal year after the Sept. 27 date...
