Feds Ask Judge To Nix 3 Counts Against Blagojevich

Law360, New York (February 23, 2011, 8:21 PM EST) -- Prosecutors moved Wednesday to dismiss two racketeering counts and one fraud count against former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, streamlining a case that currently involves 23 criminal counts.

Prosecutors made an oral motion to drop the three criminal counts, along with the forfeiture allegation involved in the first racketeering count, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. 

The move comes on the heels of a jury coming to an impasse on 23 counts in a two-month trial in August.
