FTC Clears Qualcomm's $3.2B Atheros Buy

Law360, New York (February 25, 2011, 1:43 PM EST) -- The Federal Trade Commission on Friday granted an early termination of its antitrust review of Qualcomm Inc.'s proposed $3.2 billion acquisition of wireless chip company Atheros Communications Inc. ahead of a March 7 vote by Atheros shareholders.

The FTC said it had accepted the companies' request for an early termination, meaning the agency has completed its antitrust review of the deal and decided not to take any enforcement action during the deal's statutory waiting period.
