Baucus Urges Approval Of Colombia Free Trade Pact

Law360, New York (February 25, 2011, 7:39 PM EST) -- Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., on Friday pressed for the U.S. to approve a pending free trade agreement with Colombia this year, touting the country's improved record on labor rights, an issue that has stymied the pact's ratification.

Baucus, chair of the Senate Finance Committee, stressed the need for Congress to approve the trade agreement the two countries signed in 2006 in a speech to the Colombian American Chamber of Commerce, the National Business Association of Colombia and the Council of the American Enterprises.
