Obama Supports Bumping Up Health Care Waiver Date

Law360, New York (February 28, 2011, 6:47 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama on Monday endorsed a bill that would move up the date by which states can claim waivers from the national health care reform law in order to test-drive their own revised health care systems.

In a speech to the National Governors Association, Obama said he is in favor of the legislation proposed by Sens. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., Mary Landrieu, D-La., and Scott Brown, R-Mass., that would let states opt out of the health reform law in 2014, rather than 2017.
