Dallas Financier Gets 25 Years In $50M Fraud Case

Law360, New York (March 14, 2011, 5:51 PM ET) -- Dallas financier Jeffrey Charles Bruteyn was sentenced to 25 years in prison Monday for bilking investors out of more than $50 million by claiming to be an investment guru with a slew of college degrees.

Bruteyn, formerly the managing director of now-defunct AmeriFirst Funding Corp. and AmeriFirst Acceptance Corp., was convicted in April of nine counts of securities fraud in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
