Fishermen Fail To Stop Seafood Cos.' Price-Sharing

Law360, New York (March 01, 2011, 2:02 PM ET) -- A proposed class of fishermen alleging two companies monopolized the market for certain seafood lost a bid to halt the companies' price-sharing Monday, with an Oregon federal judge ruling they failed to show they were harmed by the activity.

The proposed injunction would have prohibited Pacific Seafood Group and Ocean Gold Seafoods Inc. from communicating with each other about the prices they were paying fishermen and would have stopped the companies from communications intended to direct fishing vessels to particular seafood processing plants, according to the...
