NFL Violated Union CBA With $4B TV Contracts: Judge

Law360, New York (March 1, 2011, 10:31 PM EST) -- A Minnesota federal judge on Tuesday found that the NFL violated a collective bargaining agreement with its players association when it entered television contracts guaranteeing it nearly $4 billion for games that could be canceled by a potential lockout.

Judge David S. Doty, who oversees NFL labor disputes in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, overturned NFL special master Stephen Burbank's Feb 1. opinion that the league did not violate the agreement in devising the contracts.
