Blagojevich Sheds Bribery Allegations In 7th Circ.

Law360, New York (March 2, 2011, 6:31 PM EST) -- The Seventh Circuit on Wednesday ruled that former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was immune from civil allegations accusing him of selling his support for legislation that took money out of riverboat casino owners' pockets to give to race track operators.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit ruled that Blagojevich was entitled to legislative immunity, which shields state and local officials from federal suits filed against them in their personal capacities for actions taken in connection with legitimate legislative activity....
