Calif. Co. Chicken, Pork Pulled Amid Listeria Fears

Law360, New York (March 2, 2011, 6:17 PM EST) -- California produce company Taylor Farms Pacific is recalling 64,000 pounds of chicken and pork products made with broccoli potentially tainted by listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said Tuesday, warning the pathogen can sometimes kill children and the elderly.

The Washington State Department of Agriculture discovered the issue during a routine sampling of Taylor Farm’s retail products, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said when making the Class I recall, its most serious, high-risk recall.
