Fla. Can Reject $2.4B In US Rail Money, Court Rules

Law360, New York (March 4, 2011, 11:54 AM EST) -- Florida's high court ruled Friday that Gov. Rick Scott has the authority to reject $2.4 billion in federal stimulus money for the construction of a high-speed rail line between Orlando and Tampa.

The Florida Supreme Court unanimously denied a bipartisan challenge to the Republican governor's refusal to accept federal funds for the rail project, finding that the state senators who brought the suit had failed to prove they were entitled to relief under state law.
