CSR Pays $15M To Settle Bluetooth Patent Dispute

Law360, New York (April 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Bluetooth chip manufacturer CSR plc agreed Thursday to pay $15 million to settle patent infringement claims a nonprofit research group made against the company and twelve of its customers.

The settlement will end a case pending in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, filed by the Washington Research Foundation against the U.K. company’s customers Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Nokia Corp., Panasonic Corp. and Panasonic’s parent company, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. in December.
