Ex-Ala. Mayor Asks 11th Circ. To Flip Bribery Verdict

Law360, New York (March 8, 2011, 5:31 PM EST) -- A former Birmingham, Ala., mayor asked the Eleventh Circuit on Tuesday to overturn a 15-year prison sentence for accepting about $250,000 in bribes in exchange for sending more than $7 million in bond business to an investment banker.

In oral arguments before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, an attorney for Larry Langford claimed his client’s conviction was prejudiced by evidence of his gambling winnings.
