Water Near Pa. Gas Drilling Sites Safe, Agency Says

Law360, New York (March 8, 2011, 2:32 PM EST) -- Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection said Monday that water tests downstream of Marcellus Shale gas drilling sites showed levels of radioactivity at or below naturally occurring amounts.

The agency made the announcement the same day the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency asked for increased monitoring and said water data indicated potential risk to human health and the environment.
