Law360, New York (April 19, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The largest hospital and medical associations in California have joined a putative class action against Blue Cross in an attempt to reinforce allegations that the state’s health insurer illegally rescinded coverage after health care providers rendered services.
The plaintiffs’ attorneys said Thursday they amended the complaint to include the California Hospital Association, which has 450 member hospitals, and the California Medical Association, which represents 30,000 physicians, to put plaintiffs in a better position to challenge Blue Cross’ controversial rescission practices.
