NC Lawmakers Fail To Pass Health Care Law Protest

Law360, New York (March 9, 2011, 11:55 PM EST) -- North Carolina House Republicans on Wednesday failed to defeat Gov. Beverly Perdue's veto of a bill challenging the health care overhaul law for requiring individuals to buy health insurance or pay a penalty.

The North Carolina House of Representatives voted 68 to 51 to override Perdue's veto of H.B. 2, An Act to Protect the Freedom to Choose Health Care and Health Insurance, but did not receive the three-fifths majority necessary to block the veto.
