Avis Sinks Antitrust Suit Over $1.5B Merger

Law360, New York (March 14, 2011, 12:00 PM EDT) -- Avis Budget Group Inc. on Friday won its bid to dismiss an antitrust suit in Washington state over its proposed $1.52 billion acquisition of rival Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc.

Judge John C. Coughenour threw out the suit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington on Friday because the deal has not yet gone through and so the court lacks subject matter jurisdiction.
