Law360, New York (March 14, 2011, 7:48 PM EDT) -- In a closely watched U.S. Supreme Court battle with Microsoft Corp., i4i LP argued in a brief filed Friday that the revised standard for invalidity being sought by the technology giant would discourage innovation and unfairly upset decades of patent law.

I4i maintains that the courts have consistently held for over a century that the presumption of patent validity imposes a heightened standard to prove invalidity, according to the brief.
