US Seeks Prison Term For Ex-Goldman Code Thief

Law360, New York (March 14, 2011, 7:53 PM ET) -- Federal prosecutors on Friday urged a judge in New York to send a former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. programmer convicted of stealing source code in violation of an employment agreement to prison for up to 10 years.

Former Goldman programmer Sergey Aleynikov deserves a jail term of between 97 and 121 months because he demonstrated a “significant lack of respect” for intellectual property laws and his crime was “meticulously planned and brazenly executed,” government prosecutors said in a memorandum of sentencing considerations filed in the U.S....
