Miss. Passes Carbon Capture, Sequestration Law

Law360, New York (March 15, 2011, 12:48 PM EDT) -- Mississippi approved the Mississippi Geologic Sequestration of Carbon Dioxide Act on Monday to govern the geologic sequestration of carbon dioxide, turning over authority to the state's Oil and Gas Board to approve the use of the technique in petrochemical reservoirs.

Geologic sequestration of carbon dioxide may allow for orderly withdrawal, allowing carbon dioxide to be available for commercial, industrial or other uses, including for enhanced recovery of oil and gas, according to the law.
