ITC Keeps Door Shut On Panasonic Chip Probe

Law360, New York (March 17, 2011, 7:18 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission declined to review an administrative judge's decision to close an investigation into semiconductor chips when Panasonic Corp. of Japan, whose patent infringement complaint sparked the probe, settled with Freescale Semiconductor Inc.

The ITC's decision — published in the Federal Register on Thursday—did not include a reason why the commission decided to forgo a review. But the notice said that the ITC administrative law judge decided that termination of the investigation was in the public interest.
