Judge Blocks Wis. Law To Limit Public Unions

Law360, New York (March 18, 2011, 1:10 PM EDT) -- A state judge issued a temporary restraining order Friday blocking the implementation of a Wisconsin law that would restrict collective bargaining for the state's public workers, handing an early victory to a district attorney challenging the measure.

Judge Maryann Sumi’s ruling, in Dane County Circuit Court, comes ahead of a March 29 hearing on an injunction that could put the brakes on the controversial law signed by Republican Gov. Scott Walker after a heated political fight that saw Democratic lawmakers leave the state.
